  • Training and ongoing coaching in the specialist programme.
  • You will be supported by a multidisciplinary staffed team – which includes social workers and practice and cultural advisors.

  • As an independent contractor, an attractive weekly allowance is paid as well as any agreed expenses reimbursed.

Requirements:

As a caregiver, you will need:

  • To be open to having a rangatahi live with you for several months
  • A spare room and suitable home environment
  • To complete Police and Oranga Tamariki vetting checks for yourself and household members
  • To complete a medical reference check
  • A reliable form of transport
  • To be able to attend meetings and trainings as required
  • To provide aroha and support positive outcomes for rangatahi
  • To be willing to learn and implement support strategies for rangatahi

No experience is needed but previous experience working with tamariki and rangatahi is an advantage.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

We have different foster care programmes in the Waikato:
In our specialised caregiver programme you will support a rangatahi for approximately 12 months.
In our foster care service we provide short, medium and long-term care depending on the young person's needs.

Our team will support you and meet with you weekly while you have a young person living with you.
Training and meetings will often occur during the day/week, so some flexibility to be available to attend is essential.

We need caregivers who are able to provide stable and consistent support for our tamariki and rangatahi, so ideally, we are looking for someone who is willing to commit to an ongoing caregiver role.

Getting started:
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
