Stroke Peer Support Group Volunteer

Stroke Foundation Hamilton operates a number of stroke peer support groups each month at different venues in Hamilton City.
Most activities have a duration of approx. four hours each time. The team of volunteers assist the stroke affected people to move around in their wheelchairs and other mobility aids and at the lunch group assist people to order and collect their meals if required.
We are friendly, supportive group and welcome volunteers from all ages and background.

Requirements:

Reasonable fit person with they own transport to get to the venue of the support group and able to work with stroke affected people. Also
reliable, trustworthy, patient and sensible.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Stroke Club meetings are held at the Hamilton Marist Rugby Football Club Rooms in Old Farm Road on the fourth Wednesday each month from 9.00 am till 1.15 pm.

Social Lunch Group meetings are held the Hamilton Workingmen's Club Rooms in Frankton on the Third Thursday each month from 11.30 am till 1.15 pm.

Combined Neurological Choir is held the Dementia Waikato Rooms in Frankton from 10.30 am till midday each Tuesday of the school term from 10.30 am till midday but not held during school holidays.

Stroke Caregivers Support Group meets on the Third Tuesday of each month at the Hamilton Workingmen's Club from 1.30 pm till 3.00 pm
