Stroke Peer Support Group Committee/Board Volunteer

Stroke Foundation Hamilton operates a number of stroke peer support groups each month at different venues in Hamilton City. Volunteer Board members assist in the management of these meetings if they can and attend monthly Committee/Board meetings held on the First Wednesday of each month.

Requirements:

A reasonably active, fit person, who has a current driver's licence who is able to interact with people with stroke disabilities & speech language difficulties after a stroke.
We are looking for people who are reliable, trustworthy, patient, great listeners - and who have compassion for those affected by stroke.
Who also ideally have previous experience of serving on a committee/Board and have a reasonable understanding of financial matters and funding requirements for not-for-profit community organisations.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

All the stroke peer support activities run for approx. four hours or less from mid-morning to early afternoon.
Ideally you can attend one of these sessions on a monthly basis.
