Emergency departments are busy places where information, guidance and support are just as important as treatment. As a FED, you'll provide comfort, reassurance and help to patients and their families, becoming an important part of a hospital's emergency department. Hato Hone St John are looking for people who have an aptitude for working with a diversity of cultures that will bring passion to this crucial function. We offer full training and support required for you to enjoy and be fully prepared for this role. This includes shadowing an existing volunteer for a few weeks, so you understand what's required.
Come join us, it could change your life. Working with a dedicated team and giving something valuable back to your community can be incredibly rewarding.
No prior experience is required. However, there are certain things that are needed to be considered to be successful in these roles:
We ask volunteers to commit to a four-hour shift once a week or fortnightly. The shifts vary between hospitals and care facilities. In addition, due to the nature of these roles, we are only able to consider volunteers who are able to commit for a minimum of 12 months.
