Hamilton Arts Festival / Toi Ora Ki Kirikiriroa is looking for vibrant individuals to help with front-of-house duties during the festival. While we already have an amazing team of volunteers, we’re on the lookout for a few more to help us deliver the best festival yet!

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Welcome festival audiences with a friendly and positive attitude.
  • Promote our “no BYO alcohol” policy to ensure a safe environment.
  • Check tickets for correct dates, times, and shows.
  • Direct attendees to their seats and provide helpful event information.
  • Promote other exciting festival events and be the friendly, welcoming face of the festival.
  • Enjoy the opportunity to watch performances while on shift!

Additional Tasks:

  • Assist with other duties as needed, including:
  • Conducting audience surveys.
  • Waste management and sorting.
  • Cleaning and general event support.

Volunteer Perks:

  • Committed usher volunteers will be invited to a Welcome BBQ a few days before the festival.
  • Enjoy the opportunity to watch performances before or after your shift.
  • Your support is essential to making the festival a success, and we deeply appreciate the time and energy our volunteers contribute!
Requirements:

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Strong customer service skills and excellent communication abilities.
  • A positive can-do attitude and a welcoming smile to create a friendly atmosphere.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and walk around the gardens during your shift.
  • Availability for a minimum of two shifts throughout the festival.
  • Punctuality and reliability are essential to ensure smooth operations.

Your commitment will help make the festival a fantastic experience for all!

Time commitment:

Shift Details:

  • Evening shows: Typically run from 4:30 pm to 10:00 pm.
  • Weekend shows: Run from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm.
  • Volunteers are scheduled for specific shows and venues during these hours, working between 2–6 hours at any given time.
  • Enjoy the opportunity to watch performances while on shift!

Volunteer Perks:

  • Refreshment breaks will be provided as needed.
  • Supper is provided for those volunteering in the evening.
  • Volunteers working a daytime shift will receive a complimentary rolled ice cream from the Hamilton Gardens Cafe.

Minimum Commitment:

  • Volunteers must commit to at least two shifts during the 2025 Festival on the following dates:

  • Sun, 23 Feb
  • Wed, 26 Feb
  • Thu, 27 Feb
  • Fri, 28 Feb
  • Sat, 1 Mar
  • Sun, 2 Mar
