The Meteor Theatre is operated by the One Victoria Trust, which exists to foster, develop, and encourage all forms of creative and performing art, in a way that benefits the community. Our vision is to enhance the arts in Kirikiriroa, Hamilton and Aotearoa, New Zealand by providing a vibrant and thriving venue for theatre, music, dance, poetry, exhibitions, workshops, comedy, improv…and much, much more.

The Theatre volunteer plays an important role in providing manaakitanga/customer service and front of house support for audiences attending shows and experiences at The Meteor.

The main responsibilities are: manaakitanga/ customer service, admitting audiences into the theatre and seating them if required, assisting with general health & safety and fire evacuation if required, general housekeeping. As a Theatre volunteer, you also get to watch the show you're working on.

If you're successful in joining our volunteer group, we will provide an induction to The Meteor, ongoing information and training about the shows on display and what's coming up. By working as a volunteer, you will gain valuable customer service experience within a working theatre and you will help us create amazing experiences for our audiences. You also get to watch the show during your shift if you wish!

Requirements:

Customer service experience is advantageous.
We're also looking for people who have good communication skills, a reasonable physical ability, who are punctual and who have good time keeping skills.

Time commitment:

An average of 4-8 shifts per month, depending on your availability.
Each shift is approximately 3-4 hours (this includes watching the show).
