At the Kiwi Challenge Foundation, we support initiatives that have a positive impact in New Zealand by promoting active and healthy living and by identifying and developing young future leaders.
The KCF aims to help the ordinary achieve the extraordinary; by providing funding, mentoring and education. It aims to inspire the youth of New Zealand to explore the great outdoors, and to take action on their dreams and realise their full potential.
Our primary focus is delivering the Pirongia Trail Run, Waikato's community trail event.
The Pirongia Trail Run is seeking 6-8 race day marshals to support event athletes and the operations team.
You'll be stationed at marshal points along the course and paired up with some of our existing marshals to deliver some race day hype and excitement!
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will include:
We provide you with all you need, including lunch and an event tee.
There's probably going to be some walking involved. Depending on the marshal point there is 5min - 45min of walking to get to your assigned location - and more if we need you to respond to an incident. So, we require a basic level of fitness - and more so if you're keen on a position higher up the maunga.
You'll be required to bring equipment and clothing that will make your day on the maunga that much more comfortable. At the bare minimum we require you to have a waterproof jacket and an additional warm layer.
Consider this an all day event. We will brief our vollies at 0730 and release them as the last runner comes past your marshal location, generally from 1400 onwards to 1600. Depending on which marshal location you are stationed, these may have different start and finish times.
                    Getting started:
