No experience is needed, but we need reliable volunteers, and previous experience working with youth is an advantage.

You will be given FREE leadership training, mentoring, and all uniform is provided. There is no personal cost to you to volunteer

Requirements:

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Have a passion to inspire girls and young women to reach their full potential and learn new skills
  • Be encouraging, assertive, and patient
  • Be a hands-on leader and learner
  • Meet new people and become part of a worldwide network

During the school term, our GGNZ leaders:

  • Attend a weekly session (in person) for up to two hours
  • Helping plan the term’s activities and deliver them to the girls
  • Complete occasional evening/weekend training as required
  • Attend occasional leader/planning meetings, and trips or camps

GirlGuiding New Zealand 's health and safety policy also has requirements around adult-to-child ratios, so we require you to be older than 18.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

We are currently recruiting for Leaders in the following unit:
Taupo Pippins - Meets Monday 3.30 - 4.30pm - during school term time
2nd Taupo Brownies - Meets Wednesday's 5:30 - 7pm during school term time
Lake Taupo Guides - Meets Thursday's 6 - 8pm during school term time
Lake Taupo Rangers - Meets Monday's 6:30 - 8:30pm during school term time

Aside from the weekly meetings there is the occasional event or camp on a weekend and some planning so you can expect to spend 2-4 hours per week volunteering.
We also require a minimum six month commitment.
