Science Kit Organiser - Thursday Afternoon

Join Our Friendly Volunteer Team!
Help us keep the House of Science Central Waikato’s resource kits ready to inspire young learners.

Every second Thursday, from 12pm to 4pm, you’ll team up with a diverse group of volunteers to:

  • Collect returned kits from schools
  • Clean, sort, and restock them
  • Prepare everything to be sent back out the following Monday

Your work helps spark curiosity and learning in local classrooms—making a real difference for kids across the region.

It’s a fast-paced, hands-on role with a great sense of teamwork and purpose. Plus, it’s a wonderful chance to meet new people, learn new skills, and be part of a friendly, supportive community.

Requirements:
  • Over 16 years of age
  • A friendly team player who also works well independently
  • Comfortable with light physical activity, including lifting up to 20kg
  • Able to read and communicate in English at a basic conversational level
  • Reliable and punctual, with a positive attitude
  • Enjoys hands-on, practical tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working indoors in a shared space
  • Enthusiastic about supporting education and community initiatives

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:
  • Volunteer hours: 12pm to 4pm
  • Every second Thursday afternoon
  • During Primary and Intermediate school term time only
