Requirements:

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Have a passion to inspire girls and young women to reach their full potential and learn new skills
  • Be encouraging, assertive, and patient
  • Be a hands-on leader and learner
  • Meet new people and become part of a worldwide network

During the school term, our GGNZ leaders:

  • Attend a weekly session (in person) for up to two hours
  • Helping plan the term’s activities and deliver them to the girls
  • Complete occasional evening/weekend training as required
  • Attend occasional leader/planning meetings, and trips or camps

No experience is needed, but we need reliable volunteers, and previous experience working with youth is an advantage.
GirlGuiding New Zealand 's health and safety policy also has requirements around adult-to-child ratios, so we require you to be older than 18.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

We are currently recruiting leaders for a few different units so you can pick the unit with the best days/times to match your needs. We are looking for new leaders at:

Hamilton North Brownies - Located in Rototuna North, meets on Thursday's from 5 - 6:30pm during school term time
Hamilton North Guides - Located in Rototuna North, meets on Thursday's from 6.30 - 8.30pm during school term time
Taumata Pippins - Located in Hamilton East, meets on Tuesday's 4:30 - 5:30pm during school term time
Nawton Brownies - Located in Nawton, meets on Tuesday's 5-6:30pm during school term time
*Nawton Pippins - Located in Nawton, meets on Tuesday 5 - 6pm during school term time

Between weekly meetings with the occasional event of camp on a weekend and a bit of planning you can expect to spend on average 2-3 hours per week volunteering.
We also require a minimum of a six month commitment.
