Requirements:

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Have a passion to inspire girls and young women to reach their full potential and learn new skills
  • Be encouraging, assertive, and patient
  • Be a hands-on leader and learner
  • Meet new people and become part of a worldwide network

During the school term, our GGNZ leaders:

  • Attend a weekly session (in person) for up to two hours
  • Helping plan the term’s activities and deliver them to the girls
  • Complete occasional evening/weekend training as required
  • Attend occasional leader/planning meetings, and trips or camps

No experience is needed, but we need reliable volunteers, and previous experience working with youth is an advantage.
GirlGuiding New Zealand’s health and safety policy also has requirements around adult-to-child ratios, so we require you to be older than 18.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

We are currently recruiting for three units which are:

Putaruru Guides and Rangers Guide Club - Located in Putaruru, meets on Monday’s 6 - 7:30 pm during school term time
Tokoroa Pippins and Brownies Guide Club - Located in Tokoroa, meets on Wednesday’s 3:30 - 5 pm during school term time
*Tokoroa Guides and Rangers Guide Club - located in Tokoroa, meet Wednesday 4 - 5.30pm during school term time

Aside from the weekly meetings, there are the occasional events or camps held on weekends, and some planning time is required, so you can expect to Volunteer between 2-3 hours per week.
We also require a minimum six-month commitment.
