About Waikato Equitherapy Incorporated:

Role Overview:

  • Responsibilities:
  • Walk to paddocks to collect and turn out horses.
  • Groom horses to a high standard, preparing them for lessons with riders.

Experience:

  • Horse handling experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Full onsite training will be provided for those without prior experience.
Requirements:

Ideal Candidate Attributes:

  • Physically able to groom horses to a high standard.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, with strong communication skills.
  • Patient, friendly, and able to build rapport with both horses and riders.
  • Comfortable working around horses in a therapeutic environment.
  • Must be COVID-19 vaccinated.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Volunteer Hours and Availability: Your time and support are greatly appreciated.

The Centre is open during school term time on the following days:

  • Wednesday: 8:30 AM – 3:00-4:00 PM
  • Thursday: 8:30 AM – 3:00-4:00 PM
  • Friday: 11:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Saturday: 8:30 AM – 3:00-4:00 PM
  • Sunday: 9:00 AM – 3:00-4:00 PM

Volunteer duties include collecting horses from the paddocks and preparing them for rides, with a commitment of approximately 2 hours per session.
