Imagine being an older man, sitting at home day after day with no one to share a laugh with, no one to talk about your hobbies, or even just the footy on TV. For many men in our community, this is a reality—but you can change that.
By volunteering with Age Concern Waikato, you’ll spend quality time with older men, sharing hobbies, having a laugh, and listening to their stories. You’ll help them feel connected, valued, and less alone, while building genuine friendships that can brighten both your life and theirs.
Because of the unique challenges many older men face, male volunteers are especially valued:
Visits usually take place in the older friend’s home once a week, Monday to Sunday, and outings are encouraged if both you and your friend are keen. When you volunteer with Age Concern Waikato, you’ll receive support, orientation, and training to help you feel confident in your role.
Turn a lonely day into a good one. Don’t Just Think it……..Do It!
