  • We are looking for keen and committed volunteers to contribute as a Volunteer Meals on Wheels Driver on weekdays.
  • You will be picking up hot healthy meals from the hospital and delivering them to elderly, ill, and vulnerable people in need in Morrinsville.
  • You will be a vital part of our volunteer family and will be making a direct contribution to those who need it the most. Especially the elderly, sick and those unable to cook their own meals.
  • Your support will not just provide them with a chance at a healthy meal but also give them a friendly in person interaction with an awesome volunteer like yourself.
  • You will be joining a team of volunteers who ensure the most vulnerable in our community have a hot healthy meal on a daily basis.
Requirements:
  • Most of our drivers deliver meals once a week every two weeks, however shifts are flexible.
  • Shifts Start at 11am and are usually an hour, up to an hour and a half
  • Pick up meals in your car.
  • Deliver meals to people and have a brief chat at the door.
  • Go home feeling good that you’ve helped someone out today.

You’ll need to be a friendly person who has their own car and a valid driver's licence.
We’ll train you in how to carry out the role and you’ll be supported by Red Cross volunteers or staff members.

Meals on Wheels volunteer onboarding may take anywhere between 2-6 weeks depending on your availability and the availability of the local coordinator. NZ Police response time can vary from a few days to about a month after we submit the Police Vet request.

You'll need to follow our Health, Safety and Wellbeing policies and procedures, which will be advised during training. You can also find more information on this on our tools and guidance for volunteers page.

Time commitment:
  • We're in need of volunteer drivers to deliver meals in Morrinsville.
  • Meal deliveries are on weekdays and usually take one to one and a half hours.
  • Volunteer drivers are typically rostered weekly or fortnightly.
  • All shifts start and end at Waikato Hospital.
