In Aotearoa, young workers face a challenging and precarious labor market, often unaware of their rights. Young Workers Resource Centre (YWRC) is a non profit organisation dedicated to changing that! Through engaging workshops and providing guidance and representation, we empower young individuals with the knowledge they need to navigate their employment relationships confidently.

About The Role:
We're on the lookout for an engaged and passionate individual, ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work. This year YWRC’s current strategic plan expires and we're facing some big challenges. The Board will need to be committed to undertaking the mahi required to ensure our organisation thrives. We encourage you to consider joining a forward thinking team of young people, passionate about creating fair employment experiences for rangatahi.

We're seeking an organised superstar who can take and circulate meeting minutes, keep on top of the Board meeting schedule, and actively participate in the constantly evolving Board for the Young Workers Resource Centre.

Requirements:
  • Able to attend Board meetings on the Second Tuesday evening of every month.
  • Interested in achieving positive outcomes for young workers.
  • Acknowledge the importance of Te Tiriti as Aotearoa's founding document

Key Skills:

  • Excellent Administrative Skills: Able to take minutes and sending out relevant documentation each month.
  • Great Communication & Collaboration Skills: Can work with Chairperson to get the tasks completed in a timely manner and work with other board members on a range of projects and initiatives.

BONUS:
Experience or passion for writing policies.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:
  • Meet monthly, on the second Tuesday for a two-hour team meeting.
  • Weekly, 1-2 hours of sending emails, following up with other board members, attending sub-committee meetings and helping the executive committee with relevant tasks.
  • Able to commit to joining the board for a minimum of 2 years.
