As a Community House, we welcome a diverse mix of visitors, including:

  • Clients of our Family Support, Family Harm, Counselling, and Budgeting Services.
  • Members of groups using our facilities.

In this role, you will:

  • Answer phones and take clear messages.
  • Monitor staff movements and assist with appointments.
  • Greet all arrivals with a warm welcome.
  • Help maintain a clean and tidy environment in the kitchen, reception, and other areas.
  • If you’re able, there may also be some general clerical tasks to assist with.
  • We appreciate your support in creating a welcoming atmosphere for everyone!
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualities:

  • Warm and Welcoming: Create a friendly atmosphere for all visitors.
  • Culturally Sensitive: Comfortable interacting with diverse social and ethnic backgrounds, treating every visitor with respect.
  • Strong Communication Skills: A good standard of oral and written English is essential.
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy is key—be detail-oriented in your work.
  • Adaptability: Able to handle busy periods as well as quieter times (feel free to bring a book or puzzle book for downtime!).
  • Confidentiality: Adhere to our confidentiality requirements at all times.
  • Dependable Team Player: Reliable and trustworthy, capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:
  • Hours: 2 to 6 hours per week between 1pm - 5pm, depending on available time slots and your schedule.
  • Regular Roster: Enjoy a consistent schedule with the same day and time each week.
  • Flexibility Required: Be prepared to adapt to any changes in availability as needed.
