Hauora iHub Volunteer - Hamilton

This is an exciting and rewarding volunteer role at the Hauora iHub. You will engage with individuals and whanau, providing them with valuable information while waiting to see staff. You will have the unique opportunity to connect with the community, enhancing their hauora experience within Waiora Waikato.

What You'll Do:

  • Engage outside the Hauora Hub and around the Meade Clinical Centre and Waiora Waikato, to connect people to the available services.
  • Help keep the environment and resources tidy.
  • Help keep children occupied while their whanau talk with staff.
  • Assist with any special promotions and events that may take place.
  • Assist with some information-gathering and form-filling activities.

We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Reliable and trustworthy.
  • Have basic knowledge of te reo Māori and Tikanga Māori
  • Confident approaching members of the public to make them aware of, and encourage them to, access the Hauora iHub.
  • Warm, inviting and friendly manner.
  • Have an interest in improving health outcomes for our population.

Learning and becoming comfortable in this role will take time so this role will not suit someone who is unable to commit for an extended period of time to the role.

Requirements:
  • Excellent communication skills - great spoken and written English
  • Reliable and trustworthy.
  • Warm, inviting and friendly manner.
  • A basic knowledge of te reo Māori and Tikanga Māori (preferable).
  • Confident speaking to members of the public to promote the work we do.
  • An interest in improving health outcomes for our population.
  • Can commit to an ongoing roster position once a week.

As our organisation is a health and disability provider, volunteers may be required to be wear a surgical mask when performing this role.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:
  • One rostered shift of four hours a week, either Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday.
  • Shift times are 10.00am - 2.00pm.
  • A regular weekly commitment is needed.
