Predator Trap Monitor - Mystery Creek

Ōhaupō

We have a fantastic team of seven volunteers who regularly check traps, but we could use an extra pair of hands! Right now, our volunteers check the traps every second Wednesday or Friday, spending a few hours in the morning helping protect native wildlife.

What's involved?

  • Handling and clearing trapped pests (such as possums, rats, and stoats)
  • Re-setting the traps—so you’ll need to be comfortable with that.

You'll be joining a friendly, supportive team with great camaraderie and a shared passion for conservation. If you’re keen to help, we’d love to have you on board!

Requirements:
  • You must be fit and able to access traps which may be down a bank.
  • Must be comfortable with clearing dead animals from the traps and resetting them.
  • You need transport to get to Mystery Creek which is not served by public transport.

This role suits someone who enjoys being outdoors and has a responsible approach to working safely and sensibly within our environment.

Time commitment:
  • Every second Wednesday and/or Friday morning from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
