About Us
Abbeyfield provides an innovative housing model that offers healthy, secure, and affordable living—accessible even if superannuation is your main or only income. Each kaumātua/older resident has a private ensuite room and shares common spaces such as the lounge, dining area, and laundry. The house operates under a volunteer committee, with a housekeeper preparing nutritious meals daily. Our aim is to reduce isolation and loneliness while supporting kaumātua to maintain independent living for as long as possible.
What you'll be doing:
Abbeyfield Waikato board members typically serve at least a two-year term. Board roles include Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary, House Management, Resident Liaison, Maintenance, and Health and Safety. Each position allows members to offer professional expertise, advice, and guidance, participate in decision-making, and help raise Abbeyfield’s profile in the local community. We are seeking a committed Secretary to assist with maintaining organisation and ensuring our operations remain efficient and orderly.
