Volunteer Coordinators – Daffodil Day Hamilton
Lead Daffodil Day in Your Hamilton Community - Four Volunteer Coordinators needed – Hamilton North, South, East & West
Most of us know someone who has faced cancer. Daffodil Day is a powerful way to show our support and raise vital funds for those affected – right here in our own community.
We’re looking for four passionate, organised, community-minded people to take the lead in their part of Hamilton and help bring Daffodil Day to life.
What You Will Do – With Our Support
As a Daffodil Day Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in something truly meaningful — but you won’t be doing it alone. We’ll be with you every step of the way, helping you make it happen.
- Organise local street collection sites and become a go-to person in your part of Hamilton
- Lead and support a team of volunteers – including recruiting, rostering, and staying connected with them
- Promote Daffodil Day in your local area and help create a real sense of community spirit
- Coordinate fresh daffodil pre-sales (where applicable) to boost awareness and fundraising
- Manage resources and donations – including collection buckets, counter boxes, merchandise, and banking, with our guidance
We Will Support You Every Step of the Way
- We’ll provide you with training and orientation to make sure you feel confident and ready
- You’ll have access to planning resources, timelines, and communication templates to help everything run smoothly
- We’ll be right here throughout the journey – offering ongoing support, regular check-ins, and a post-event debrief so we can reflect and celebrate together
Requirements:
You don’t need to be an expert — just someone who cares about their community and and is ready to play a key role in a day that helps fund life-changing cancer support.
- You’re motivated, reliable, and organised, with a natural ability to bring order to moving parts
- You enjoy connecting with people from all walks of life and working together toward a shared goal
- You’re able to respect boundaries and handle sensitive information with care and confidentiality
- You’re compassionate and empathetic, and want to use those qualities to help others
- Most of all, you want to feel that your time and energy are going toward something that truly matters
You don’t need formal experience — just a big heart, a bit of time, and the willingness to step up.
A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.
Time commitment:
What to Expect
We want to be upfront about the time involved so you can plan with confidence. Here’s a guide to what you can expect:
- You’ll spend around 30 to 40 hours mainly during July and August — enough time to lead your team and get everything organised smoothly
- You’ll need to be available for the full day on Daffodil Day itself (Friday 29 and Saturday 30 August), which is when all your hard work comes to life!
- After the event, we’ll ask for 2 to 4 hours to come together for debriefing — sharing wins, lessons, and celebrating what we’ve achieved as a team
We’re here to support you throughout, and we’ll work together to make sure the commitment feels manageable and rewarding.
