This is a fun and interesting role where you will meet lots of people from all around New Zealand who are exploring and discovering our great town. The main focus of this role is providing a warm welcome, chatting with people, and giving them a great impression of our local museum. You don't need to know lots about our local heritage - over time you will become quite knowledgeable and familiar with the displays. Our visitor engagement team do a variety of tasks which include -

  • Opening and closing the museum
  • Welcoming and assisting visitors
  • Practical tasks such as maintaining the daily attendance register, assisting with shop sales and shop merchandise.
  • Helping to keep the Museum clean and tidy and doing some daily checks of our facilities, are also part of this role.

Gain some skills in retail sales, tourism experience, front of house customer service, and learn lots about our local history. We always have projects on the go, so would welcome your application if you would like to discuss other ways you can be involved.

Requirements:

We are seeking people with great communication skills who can happily work alongside other volunteers, Trustees and members of the public. Ideally you are reliable and take pride in doing a job well. If you enjoy a team environment, are organised and interested in providing a great customer experience, then this could be the role for you.
All of our volunteers need to be fully vaccinated and able to show a current vaccine pass.
