Front of House


Become part of the team at this local museum. Volunteers are required to -

  • Open and close the museum at prescribed times
  • Receive and assist visitors in a friendly and efficient manner including asking visitors for museum visit expectations
  • Maintain daily attendance register
  • Maintain daily shop sales
  • Maintain daily health and safety checklist including check on risks, fire safety and displays
  • Assist in stocking of shop merchandise
  • Keep foyer of museum clean and tidy
  • Housekeeping duties including bathrooms, vacuum, sweeping, dusting
  • Check museum grounds daily to ensure clean and tidy

Skills gained will be retail sales, tourism experience, front of house customer service, history skills. We have big projects on the horizon - eg stocktaking our collection in order to update the museum database which will ensure that our entire collection is digitized enabling online searching for genealogy, research etc. Captain Cook exhibition and celebration in 2019.
