The role is to provide friendship and support to an older person who lives alone, who could be lonely and socially isolated in the Taupō, Turangi and Tokoroa areas.
You will be matched with an older person who you will visit weekly for a chat. Befriending and visiting an older person on a regular basis, makes a real difference to the health and happiness of an older person. Learning about the client's history and sharing experiences. Ongoing support and education from the Age Concern Coordinator. The opportunity to meet with other volunteers at support meetings. Petrol vouchers provided every December.

Following a risk assessment and policy review, we can only accept prospective volunteers who have had their first vaccination against Covid-19 and are double vaccinated by 1st January 2022.
Just an hour or two weekly or fortnightly.
