Join a team that provides a unique heritage rail experience to the public. We are looking for individuals, men and women, who would be interested in becoming volunteer guards on our historic line. The train weaves through farm land, and follows the Ohinemuri River to the Waikino Station Cafe.
Duties include looking after passengers, explaining the history of the railway and surrounding areas and helping keep the passenger cars clean and tidy. This position requires climbing steps on and off the train, and the releasing of spring loaded ramps, so would best suit people with full movement, and good physical fitness. Gain a sense of satisfaction by enhancing people's experience of taking the train and hearing their stories. This is a fun, but also serious role - and if you enjoy train travel, then we'd love to hear from you.
We are looking for reliable volunteers who enjoy working as part of a team. Full training and ongoing mentoring will be provided.
You need to be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 and be able to show proof of this.
A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.
Ideally you can volunteer 5-8 hours per week depending on your availability.
