The Epilepsy Association of New Zealand has been in operation since 1956, and has a National Support Centre, 12 Branches, and 15 Field Officers nationwide. We are the only not-for-profit service provider dedicated to supporting people with epilepsy, with our primary role being the well-being and interests of people with epilepsy in an effort to improve their quality of life, and interaction with their families/whanau and the wider community.
We provide the following services through our devoted team of community workers and volunteers: - Liaising with Paediatricians and Neurologists for children and people with epilepsy, Adolescents - facilitating with social interaction and acceptance of their epilepsy, Support for women in coping with epilepsy and pregnancy, assisting families with interaction between home and school, Education and Training - At schools, workplaces and in the general community, Support Groups for all people who are affected by epilepsy in some way and Information and Resources (literature, videos, etc explaining epilepsy).
