Help Centre Volunteer

Young Workers Resource Centre is looking for volunteers who can give a minimum of 3 hours to support our Help Centre and increase our capacity to empower young workers with their rights.

Volunteers will gain experience/understanding in:
• Triaging and case assessment for employment relations issues.
• Effective communication skills for engaging with clients.
• Greater understanding of relevant employment legislation.
• Tactical application of employment law and effective strategic approaches to dispute resolution.
• The role of the union movement in the labor market and wider society.
• Empowering young workers and supporting them to sort their employment problems

Our ideal candidates will be able to: respectfully communicate with the diverse clientele who access our Help Centre, competently triage of employment inquiries, and collect relevant information. Alignment with the Kaupapa and values of YWRC is important. An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is also desirable.

A Police background check is required for this role.
