Peer Leaders

The Social Connection volunteer role will be to set up your group every week, make tea, coffee and refreshments available, and spend time chatting to older people who attend.
This role also involves tidying up after the group is over and maintaining an attendance register for each session to give this to the coordinator as required.

You will be trained and supported by Age Concern Staff. Each group runs for 1 or 2 hours per week.

Requirements:

You will need to have a love of people and conversation.
You will need to be committed to attend every week.
You need to be able to relate well to others.
You will be honest, dependable and reliable.
Respect for the beliefs and values of others.
You will have an understanding of the privacy act and have the ability to maintain client confidentiality.

A Ministry of Justice background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

1-2 hours per week
