This Plunket Walking group has been running for over 15 years and currently meets on Tuesdays at 9:30am at various locations around Hamilton.
We are looking for 1-3 volunteers interested in leading our walking group for Mums, Dads, and Caregivers. The role would require you to greet our families at the location point each week; simply start and join the walk and give a friendly farewell at the end. It’s a great way to meet people and enjoy a regular walk, in beautiful locations.
With our children in buggies, we walk from 45mins to one hour. Our walking routes vary and within the group, there are variety of walking speeds - we have some pregnant mums who walk slowly and some parents who walk speedily, and most parents walk at a pace somewhere in between. After the walk we have coffee/cake (or both!) at a café. Breastfeeding is welcome at all the cafés we go to.
We walk rain or shine so don't forget to bring a storm cover/raincoat or sun hat and a cold drink!
We meet every Tuesday at 9.30am
This group is friendly and welcoming – the walks are free. If families choose to meet afterwards at a café, they meet their own refreshment costs.
Comfortable interacting with young children and whānau and physically able to walk up to one hour.
Friendly, approachable, and reliable.
The time commitment would be approximately 1.5 hours per week.
