YOUR NEW FAMILY: Orange Sky Australia was founded in 2014, by two 20 year old mates in Brisbane. In the four years since, the service expanded to 27 vans and 1500 volunteers around Australia. In October 2018, Orange Sky New Zealand was launched. A non-profit in the model of Orange Sky Australia, but run by New Zealanders, for New Zealanders. OSNZ is a not-for-profit organisation providing free mobile laundry and shower services to people experiencing homelessness.
YOUR NEW ROLE: As a general volunteer, you will be required to go out on shift once a week or fortnight and make sure the van greets our friends with an awesome group of volunteers. As the general volunteer, you will be expected to communicate effectively with our Team Leaders and the Service Managers as well as with other members of our OS Family. Some of your responsibilities will include: + Weekly or fortnightly shift commitment + Communicating shift reports and incidents to our management team.
As a volunteer, the purpose of your role is to engage with all people during your Orange Sky shift and assist with driving the van, washing, shower operation and having genuine conversations. We have laundry and shower vans in our different service locations. The service you'll be required to operate will depend on your location and our volunteering needs in that area.
Hamilton shifts are due to start in early November 2022.
To be successful, you will be organised, great with people, and have a genuine passion for helping others. You will be able to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.
You must be over the age of 18 and we ask that you are able to commit to a minimum of 6 months.
A Orange Sky shift is 2 hours long. Orange Sky asks that you Volunteer with us weekly or fortnightly.
