Go Eco (Waikato Environment Centre) is the Waikato's largest environment hub; we are a voice for the environment, a centre for learning and a catalyst for change. We provide community education, collaborate with and support regional environmental groups, explore the impact of colonisation on the environment, and operate a Bike Hub and Food Rescue Service.

We're looking for volunteers who are passionate about the environment and climate action and who can help keep the wheels turning in our Bike Hub. As we transition to a carbon-zero city, it’s important that alternative transport methods like cycling are accessible to everyone.

Our Bike Hub currently operates with a drop-in system 10-12pm every Thursday and Saturday; we're on the look out for people who can help us expand our opening hours from Tuesday to Saturday.

When the Bike Hub is open you'll be helping to diagnose problems on a bike and then guide the owner through the process of fixing it where possible.
If it's quiet, you'll be working on rebuilding and repairing donated bikes for distribution to those who need one.

Requirements:

Passionate about bikes, the environment and climate action
Good communicator who likes engaging with customers
Knowledge of fixing bikes, particularly adjusting gears, brakes, puncture repairs & dismantling and rebuilding bikes preferred.

Time commitment:

10-12pm on a Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday / Friday or Saturday
