Our teams train every week, and we'd love to find someone who enjoys getting alongside this group of special people to encourage them, support them, and help them be the best they can be. You would attend training sessions, get to know the team members and be a bit of a role model that they can relate to. The majority of the team are young men, so being able to relate to them on a "guy stuff" level is super important.
We will provide you with lots of information and support, to help you be great at this role. If you like having fun, and enjoy the thought of really changing someone's day, then this could be the role for you. We are looking for support in both swimming and 10 Pin bowling, and are keen to introduce more sports as we have volunteers to help.
You need to have lots of patience and have empathy for people with intellectual disability.
A positive outlook and an encouraging approach would be great.
If you enjoy having fun, like ten pin bowling and value the chance to make a difference for someone, then we'd welcome your application.
We bowl every Tuesday late afternoon at The Landing, Taupo; and Swim at the AC Baths complex every Thursday late afternoon during the school term.
