Your handyman knowledge could really brighten someone's day. If you are patient, enjoy sharing what you know and like the thought of mentoring another person to grow some skills - this is the role for you!
Jack is a physically independent young man eager to get out and learn new skills that are hands on and meaningful. Come and support him at the local Men’s Shed, where they meet to carry out practical hands on work (i.e. building, woodwork, repairing items and much more) while socialising and building meaningful connections within the local community.
We are looking for someone with patience and who has time available on a Thursday. You will be supporting Jack while socialising with a group of welcoming men who have established the group. Relevant coaching and feedback will be provided as well as any relevant training and inductions.
By participating in this volunteering opportunity, you are helping achieve the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goal(s):
Goal 3 – Good Health & Well-Being
Goal 4 – Quality Education
We are looking for someone who is patient, encouraging and enjoys sharing their skills. You need to be available on a Thursday between the hours of 9.00am -12.00pm as that is when the Men's Shed group meets.
You need to have wood work/handyman skills and be able to coach someone who is just learning.
Safety awareness, a good standard of spoken English and a friendly approach are all essential.
Once a week on a Thursday, between the hours of 9.00am -12.00pm
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
