Be a part of an amazing event, meet fantastic people, and help us run New Zealands biggest event for Special Olympics Athletes.

We are looking for 600 volunteers to join our team in a variety of roles from general event volunteers, sports officials, marshals, health professionals, photographers, IT experts and much more.

Following a 4-year cycle similar to the Olympics and Paralympics the National Summer Games is Special Olympics New Zealand’s largest national event and one of New Zealand’s largest multi-sport events.

SPORTS AND VENUES roles include: Information desk, catering assistance, runners, awards and medal ceremonies, referees, marshals, time keepers, etc.

This roles are across the following sports… Basketball, Bocce, Bowling (Ten-Pin), Equestrian, Football, Golf, Indoor Bowls. Powerlifting, Swimming and Table Tennis.

SPECIAL EVENTS roles include: Airport Welcomes, Athlete/Team Registrations • Opening & Closing Ceremonies, Marshalls, VIP/ Sponsor Greeter, Transport and Parking Assistants, Transportation, Athlete Village Marshalls, Information Desk Assistant.

Volunteers must be able to provide own transport to venues and accommodation if needed.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

There will be volunteering opportunities at multiple sporting venues around Hamilton from Thurs 8th - Monday 12th December 2022. We would love to have volunteers for a full day, but will happily accept those who would prefer a shorter shift (Morning, Afternoon or Evenings)
