Paeroa Meals on Wheels is a service operated by volunteers that prepares, packages, and delivers affordable and nutritional frozen meals. A steady increase in demand for our frozen meals means that we need to increase our volunteer team in our Meals on Wheels kitchen.
Tasks include preparation, cooking and packing of our various food products whilst following all correct food handling requirements (training is provided). The organisation operates under the umbrella of the Paeroa Community Support Trust. There is an element of cleaning as we maintain our certified kitchen and equipment to the highest standard. If you enjoy being in the kitchen and like the idea of providing essential meals to people in your community, then this is the role for you!
The Paeroa Community Support Trust aims “To be a Regional Resource Centre serving children, youth, families and seniors and impacting our community for the Heartland of Hauraki and Coromandel”. The PCST is in the 25th year of supporting all members of the community, especially those at risk of social and /or financial pressure.
By participating in this volunteering opportunity, you are helping achieve the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:
Goal 2 – Zero Hunger
Goal 3 – Good Health & Well-Being
You must be reliable and able to work cooperatively in a small team environment. You need to have lots of common sense, and be prepared to follow the guidelines and processes required to complete the tasks - this ensures your safety and the quality of the meals we provide. You also need to be able to pass a Police check. Previous food handling experience would be helpful- but not essential as we will provide all necessary training.
