Our vision is to reduce waste to landfill and in order to do this we need to ensure items are repaired and reused. Not only does this benefit our environment, it helps people have access to items they need at reasonable cost through our repair and reuse centre. If you have a skill in repairing something - it might be mechanical, furniture, electrical - in fact we welcome all skills - then this is the role for you! Bikes, jewellery, linen, clocks and toys are all items that will come into our centre needing repair. If you would enjoy teaching others how to repair stuff , that would also be great - passing on these skills ensures they stay in our communities for future generations.
By participating in this volunteering opportunity you are helping achieve the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:
Must love repairing and be able to commit to starting and finishing jobs as they become available. We will work around your skills and availability however we are looking for reliable, trustworthy people who enjoy working in a team environment with common goals. You need good communication skills and must have a reasonable standard of conversational English. This role can be "behind the scenes" however if you would also enjoy teaching others the skills they need to repair items, that would be great. This might take the form of a workshop session with a group - or be more individual based.
We will work around your availability but would expect you to be able to make a reliable commitment that includes attending team meetings.
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
