Side walkers do not have to have experience with horses, but need to like interacting with children. Duties include, helping to get rider equipment ready and helping your rider with any activities - this includes assisting with safety and balance, encouraging them, and sharing in their enjoyment. We have a wonderful atmosphere, a great bunch of people and some very cool kids!
We have a lot of other roles available - including gardening, farm maintenance, cleaning, washing, feed prep, sweeping, painting etc... we have roles available for everyone. If you love the sound of what we are trying to accomplish, please apply to be a volunteer and come and discuss these opportunities with us.
By participating in this volunteering opportunity, you are helping achieve the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goal(s):
Goal 3 – Good Health & Well-Being
Goal 4 – Quality Education
Goal 10 – Reduced Inequalities
You must be comfortable working around horses and need to enjoy working with, and helping, children. Ideally you are friendly, caring and encouraging - and enjoy working as part of a team. You need a reasonable level of fitness and must be patient and reliable.
If you are 14 years and older and love the sound of bringing some fun and a sense of achievement into the lives of others - then this is the role for you.
Any time you are able to give us, is greatly appreciated. Our riders do prefer to have a familiar face every week, so if you are able to help us, weekly that would be absolutely fantastic.
We run 4 sessions per day on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (during school term, 9am - 12.05pm).
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
