Mentor for Girls2girls Connection Programme

In this role, you will commit one hour weekly or two hours fortnightly to volunteer alongside a teenage former refugee girl at a chosen charitable establishment. At the same time, you will be building a mentor-mentee relationship with the girl and provide mentoring. The mentoring will consist of sharing knowledge and expertise with your mentee, being someone to talk to, helping the girls to find direction and motivating them to achieve their goals.


Good listening and communication skills. Good knowledge of New Zealand culture and way of life, good organisation skills and time management as well as sensitivity to different cultures and beliefs. Experience with NCEA and New Zealand secondary or tertiary education would be preferable. Must complete a police check and it is preferable to have a full drivers license.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

1 hour weekly or 2 hours fortnightly. The role requires a commitment until the end of November 2019 and will commence again in March 2020.
