Arbor Day is about planting 18,000 native trees. Come along and help your community plant native plants at Waiwhakareke Natural Heritage Park. The park is a 500 year project to recreate a 60 hectare farmland back into native forest and wetlands. You will be helping to recreate biodiversity in the city. Learn 'how to plant a tree' and the importance of our native plants and wetland habitats.

We need groups and individuals to help plant and to show children attending the event how to plant.

Requirements:

You will need a planting spade, gumboots (it will be wet!), gardening clothes (long sleeves and long pants recommended), gardening gloves, a raincoat (just in case - we go rain or shine), lunch and a reuseable drink bottle (water).

Time commitment:

9.30am-2.30pm, Friday, 2 June
