Hauraki Thames-Coromandel is a district with an ageing population. Many of our senior residents experience isolation and loneliness - a weekly visit or phone call can make a big difference. We need enthusiastic volunteers to spend an hour a week with older people to provide company - or connection via a phone call. It is an ongoing but flexible role - any day and at a time that suits you. You'll be making a huge difference in an older person's life and you'll see the pleasure that you bring to them when you visit or ring. This role also gives you an opportunity to learn about the parts of history in an older person's life. Age Concern Hauraki Coromandel is committed to our volunteers and we offer professional development training opportunities throughout the year.
Good listening skills and a genuine desire to offer company and provide friendship to an older person in our community. You need to be reliable and trustworthy, positive and friendly. Any visiting experience welcome but not necessary. Training, orientation and support provided.
A minimum of one hour per week.
