Hauraki and Thames-Coromandel is a district with an ageing populatiion. Many of our senior residents experience isolation and loneliness - a weekly visit can make a big difference. We need enthusiastic volunteers to spend an hour a week with older people to provide company. It is an ongoing but flexible role - any day and at a time that suits you. You'll be making a huge difference in an older person's life and you'll see the pleasure that you bring to them when you visit. This role also gives you an opportunity to learn about the parts of history in an older person's life. Age Concern Hauraki Coromandel is committed to our volunteers and we offer professional development training opportunities throughout the year.
By participating in this volunteering opportunity you are helping achieve the following United Nations Sustainability Goals ;
Goal 3 - Good health and wellbeing
Goal 10 - Reduced inequalities
Training and orientation provided. Any visiting experience welcome but not necessary. Good listening skills and a genuine desire to offer company and provide friendship to an older person in our community. You need to be reliable and trustworthy, positive and friendly.
A minimum of one hour per week.
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
