Visitor for Older People

Hauraki and Thames-Coromandel is a district with an ageing population which means there are many people feeling isolated and lonely - a weekly visit can make a big difference. We need enthusiastic volunteers to spend an hour a week with older people to provide company. It is an ongoing but flexible role - any day and at a time that suits you. You'll be making a huge difference in an older person's life and you'll see the pleasure that you bring to them when you visit. This role also gives you an opportunity to learn about the parts of history in an older person's life. Age Concern Hauraki Coromandel is committed to our volunteers and we offer professional development training opportunities throughout the year.

Requirements:

Training and orientation provided. Any visiting experience welcome but not necessary. Good listening skills and a genuine desire to offer company and provide friendship to an older person in our community. You need to be reliable and trustworthy, positive and friendly.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

One hour per week.
