There is is a middle aged women with an intellectual disability, who is looking for a friend to do various activities out in the community with. She likes to go for walks, have manicures and pedicures, watch sport and movies and go to dancing shows. She is free at various times during the week but mainly on the weekends to do these activities with her new friend.
This is a very satisfying role that provides an opportunity for you to make a new friend and to support someone getting out into the community while doing activities that you enjoy yourself. We provide an induction programme, training and continued support to assist you in your role volunteering with a person who has an intellectual disability. There is a reasonable amount of flexibility with this role.

You need to be able to be non-judgemental and have good communication skills in that you can adapt your communication style. Otherwise no experience is needed as we will provide training and support. Preferred applicants need to be kind, patient and understanding. It is also important to be reliable and trustworthy and have a good sense of humour.
While there is flexibility you need to be able to volunteer at least once every fortnight and am able to commit to at least six months.
