Te Rauhii is a not-for-profit organisation that provides freely accessible and inclusive musical education for students in areas of high deprivation. Our mission is to inspire children to be the best, most active citizens they can be by uniting and educating them through group music-making. Our lessons demonstrate and encourage co-operation, respect, trust and harmony, showing how we can work together to make this world a better place. Operating since 2015 (previously Sistema Waikato and The Rauhī Project), the programme has students participating in after school sessions and holiday sessions learning violin, cello, choir, percussion and musicianship. Children attend from our five partner schools (Nawton School, Rhode Street School, Crawshaw School, Maeroa Intermediate School and Forest Lake School) and come together each week to learn, have fun and make new friends.
