    Riverlea Environment Society Inc

The Riverlea Environment Society Incorporated (RESI) was formed in 2007 to restore and enhance Hammond Park which we call 'Hamilton's Hidden Gem'. It's Hamilton's only remnant bush and is home to many very special native plants, birds, fish and insects.

We run working bees from 1 - 3 on the last Saturday of the month, carry out regular pest control, and work with neighbouring property owners to reduce weeds and plant natives.

The Hamilton City Council and the Waikato Regional Council support our work.

We also engage with local government on matters of town planning and resource consent processes that we feel will impact the environment of Riverlea and Hammond Park.

We are part of Project Echo, a movement to protect the native long-tailed bat (pekapeka), a threatened species.

We involve the wider community via email, Facebook and a newsletter that is delivered to all Riverlea houses.

This organisation is an approved University of Waikato Employability Plus Programme partner.
