Hamilton Group Riding for the Disabled

Mission Statement “Confidence, independence and wellbeing for people with disabilities through therapeutic horse riding and horse care.” (NZRDA)

Riding for the disabled operates from the Waikato Equestrian Centre which is an easy commute from the City centre. It was established by members of the community who understood the therapeutic benefits of horse riding. Our programme operates under the rules and guidance of New Zealand Riding for the Disabled Inc. We provide the enriching and enabling experience of horse riding while teaching equestrian skills. Therapeutic riding has many psychological benefits including a sense of wellbeing, improved independence and self-confidence. Physical benefits include muscle toning, strengthening and co-ordination. Our qualified instructor, working with therapists, individually assesses our riders and goal plans are formulated.
Hamilton Group RDA are proud winners of the Volunteering Waikato Team Excellence Award 2010.
